LG verspricht ein Softwareupdate für die eignen Fernseher Mitte diesen Jahres.
Damit bekommen LG Fernseher die bereits angekündigte Kompatibilität mit AirPlay 2 – damit ist also kein Apple TV mehr notwendig. Der Fernseher kann das direkt Inhalte wie Filme und Serien von Apple direkt streamen, ebenfalls ist eine Datenübertragung beispielsweise vom iPhone möglich. LG schreibt dazu:
New LG TVs will receive an upgrade mid-year to support Apple AirPlay 2 and Apple HomeKit for easy streaming of video and audio content and connectivity to Apple’s smart home products. 2019 LG TV owners can also expect to receive a firmware update that will add Amazon Alexa support to complement Google Assistant which is included out of the box, making LG the only TV brand to provide support for both leading AI platforms without the need for additional hardware.
In der Pressemitteilung wird weiterhin erwähnt, dass neben dem Update auf AirPlay 2 für die Modelle aus 2019 auch Amazon Alexa und Google Assistant Kompatibilität geliefert wird. Damit ist LG der erste Hersteller, der alle drei großen Smart Home Plattformen in einem Fernsehgerät vereint.
